| Ablodmajid Moadikhah is a famous name for those who remember the initial years of Islamic Revolution. This name is familiar twice for the Islamic movement combatants who fought with oppressive reign of Shah. Although he had not intended to be present in political aspects since the first days of revolution, but he accepted a ministry position just for a short period to work for his revolution and only because of his intimacy with Mr. Hashemi according to his own expression. Now being a member of pioneer revolutionaries, he only researches and tries publications somewhere. As hearing reliable statements of the history of struggle of movement is attractive for the young generation, we have held an interview with him: |

The union and charity were among main secrets of the victory of revolution. How do you describe the role of some characters such as Mr. Hashemi to create such this unity?
I am interested to retell one of my memories about that period. I remember that my family and I were guests of Mr. Hashemi in his home for some days. One of those days, Mr. Seyed Muhammad Mousavi Khoiniha was his guest too. Mr. Mousavi Khoiniha and Mr. Seyed Mehdi Imam-Jamarani had some problems in their relation. I remember that Mr. Khoiniha said something biting about Imam-Jamarani against us and I said something positive to confirm him somehow. My words faced a clear reaction of Mr. Hashemi. Mr. Hashemi meant that if there is a problem between two combatants who are like-minded in our movement, others should not say something unless they intend to remove the problem. Those days all of us believed in central role of Hashemi Rafsanjani. Thus if there was any sign of pessimism in our friendly relation for any reason, he had an admirable role to remove problems. Mr. Hashemi has the same morality yet.
Were you in the same prison or cell with Mr. Hashemi during revolutionary struggle period?
Yes, when we were imprisoned in Evin prison, for some reasons, SAVAK behaved a little mildly while interrogating. One day that I was in my cell, they called me for interrogation and transferred me to cell one. This cell was specialized for the leaders of movement. In this order, I and Muhammadali Gerami were transferred to cell one in where Ayatollah Montazeri, Ayatollah Taleghani, Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani, Ayatollah Mahdavi Kani, Ayatollah Lahooti, Ayatollah Anvari and Ayatollah Rabbani Shirazi were imprisoned.
Which decisions were made by the leaders of movement while imprisoned?
I remember the apostasy disaster among Mujahedin Organization that, in fact, they tried to create a pessimism environment by rumor and slander to affect the Islamic movement by division, but the heads of movement that I mentioned them, faced the problem consciously and conquered.
I believe that they had a significant role to establish reliability among people about Mujahedin-e-Khalgh Organization and being aware of their apostasy, they tried so much to avoid a disaster. In this regard, Hashemi Rafsanjani accepted the risk of being terrored (in the home of Chahpour) and argued with Bahram Aram. During negotiations, Bahram Aram was armed but Hashemi was non-armed. In this situation they had threatened some characters such as Mr. Taleghani and Mr. Rafsanjani to murder anticipating to accuse SAVAK for killing them.
In this order and among the crisis of apostasy of the organization, these leaders had to justify their support of such this organization in interrogations and on the other hand, they should explain for real believers who had seen their support of such an organization which had no conclusion but heresy and apostasy.
As I mentioned, it is obvious to understand that how making a decision in such those critical situations was difficult and these leaders should be appreciated to be able to pass the crisis with an intelligent program.
Can we mention the passing of such a crisis as a climax in struggles?
Yes, passing a crisis which was originated by apostasy can be one of the most brilliant chapters of revolution because the leaders of movement or imprisoned clergymen in cell one of Evin Prison passed that horrible crisis by their high consciousness, intelligence, virtue and responsibility. They neither feared of controversy of Rajavi and his evil group to fail to do their religious duties nor ignored struggling expediencies because of religious concerns.
In other word, there was an environment in cell one of Evin Prison in which the other prisoners who transferred there, had found the environment as an opportunity to enjoy more accurate information. As a result, the petty group of Rajavi was not able to canalize combatants according to its wishes and quash them with its ideals. Any body who attended prisoners of cell one, experienced an admirable constancy and intelligent behavior. New attendees were allowed to transfer their experiences to others and they notify them with their news and experiences which were achieved by high costs.
The environment of cell one should be friendly and pleasant according to these descriptions. Wasn't it?
Yes, to confirm the pleasant environment of cell one because of existence of such scientists I should mention that if I had two options to be imprisoned in cell one or to go home, I believe that I would select the first way. Or course my sincere to Mr. Taleghani and Mr. Hashemi Rafsanjani doubled the attraction of this choice.
I remember that Hashemi Rafsanjani had traveled to Europe and the USA before being arrested and had a lot of interesting information about struggle centers beyond the borders of Country.
After some times, other groups and people such as Shahid Mahdi Araghi, Shahid Kachoui, some of leaders of Motalefe Party, Mahdavi Kani, Muhammadreza Faker, Ghodratollah Alikhani, Muhammad Muhammadi and Jalal Rafi attended cell one and the number of prisoners increased more than 40 people.
Do you have any pleasant memory of cell one of Evin Prison?
This memory of mine may not be pleasant but always associates me with a memorable night of cell one. In the night during which 40 prisoners were being transferred to another prison, the number of prisoners of cell one reached 9 people including 7 leaders of movement, Muhammadali Gerami and me. Cell one was filled of sadness and silence. But I singed a poem in each line I had joked with those great men such as Mr. Taleghani, Mr. Hashemi Rafsanjani, Mr. Mahdavi Kani, Mr. Lahooti and Mr. Mehdi Karrobi. As the result the sound of laughter filled the space of cell one.
Which year were the prisoners being freed and do you remember what Mr. Hashemi Rafsanjani did after freedom?
Before Moharram month of 1977 we witnessed the freedom wave of political deported ones and prisoners. Freedom of imprisoned Islamic scientist of cell one of Evin prison made a big storm in the society. I remember that petty group of Rajavi was trying to schismatize among combatants. Their extensive effort to avoid commemoration of Hashemi Rafsanjani was an example of their role in schismatization. In this order, a demonstration was hold to commemorate Mr. Lahooti which was as big as demonstrations to meet Mr. Taleghani and Mr. Montazeri, while it is obvious that social and religious position of Mr. Lahooti was not equal with Mr. Hashemi. I want to mention that the Regime and group of Rajavi not only were not patient after freedom of political prisoners but also they always tried to schismatize between Ayatollah Taleghani and others. Of course Mr. Hashemi was able to tolerate such these situations because of his peaceful spirit.
Mr. Hashemi continued his activities after freedom. I remember an important point of his trip to Qom with Mr. Lahooti while I witnessed the increasing efforts to found the party. But another point that I should mention is the intimacy of Hashemi Rafsanjani and Imam Khomeini. I well remember that I went to Alavi School on February 2, 1978. Although the government of Bakhtiar had not collapsed yet, but there was more or less doubtless anticipation of this event. The argument was the prime-ministry of Mr. Bazargan that most of the people agreed. But there were some others who demanded a share for themselves and asked Hashemi to introduce them to Imam as the prime-minister. But Mr. Hashemi stood against those people firmly and tried to reorganize the situation.
