Narrated by Hojjatol-Islam Doagu
Hashemi's House was the hub of "combatants"
Hojjatol-Islam Mohsen Doagu was born in 1952 in Torbat Heydarih city. He passed the primary courses at the school and seminary of that city and then headed for Mashad in order to continue his studied over there. At Mashad's seminary he benefited from the teaching classes of esteemed masters such as Adib Neishaburi, seyed Hojat Hashemi, Gholamali Gholamalipour, Vaezi Khavari, Rezazadeh, Vaez Tabasi, Salehi, Eshkazi, and " Supreme Leader". In Tehran he learned a great deal through classes held by Haj Mirza Ahmad Ashtiani, seyed Mohammad Taghi Khansari, and in Qum city he enjoyed the teaching sessions of Haj Javad Tabrizi, Vahid Khorasani and Agha Musa Shobeiri zanjani. During the years he was a teenager he got familiar with Imam Khomeini's thoughts and the Islamic Revolution and joined the revolutionary combatants and then he constantly did his best to propagate the movement of Imam.
Due to political activities he was arrested and imprisoned in Mashad in the year 1972 and after getting released he again continued his efforts aimed at opposing the oppressive Shah's regime and in 1974 he fled Mashad so as to escape the forces of SAVAK. During his publicity- oriented trips in various provinces like Khorasan, Mazandaran, Gilan, yazd, Markazi and Tehran under the fake names like Akhlaghi, Khalesi and Seyedabadi he kept delivering illuminating speeches and political activities.
He made friends with so many combating and renowned clergies in Tehran and his sharp and revolutionary speeches made the security system of Shah's regime very worried and angry. He was being pursued by SAVAK for 2 years and finally he was arrested in 1976 in Qum city and at the peak of the Islamic revolution he was released from prison in 1978 along with some other political prisoners. After the glorious victory of the Islamic revolution and establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran he assumed several responsibilities like Imam Jomeh of shemiranat, human resources deputy of Education Ministry, Executive Force representative in radio & Television, head of Islamic Committee in Shemiranat, head of policy-making council at Radio & Television, Inspection Deputy of Supreme Leader's Office, special Court for the Clergies and so on.
He has interesting memoirs about the key role of Hashemi during the combats of Islamic revolution and by having them reviewed once again we will be able to enjoy the nice scent of those hard days of resistance and battles.

First meeting with ayatollah Hashemi Rafsenjani
During the years 1972 and 1973 when I was in Mashad I took 2 trips to Tehran and once my master Ayatollah Khameneie introduced me to Hashemi Rafsenjani by a letter so that he could arrange my delivering some speeches in various places in Tehran. Usually Tollab would take propaganda trios during the months of Ramazan and Mohram. I handed over that letter to Mr. Hashemi Rafsenjani and that event was the beginning my friendship with him. We got very close to each other and I started visiting him at his own house. He used to help and instruct the combatants. He introduced to me Lorzadeh, Ghoba and Javid mosques for the purpose of delivering speeches.
The Stance of Mojahedin Khalgh and having Dialogue with Hashemi
After I read the books written by Mojahedin I found them very similar to those of Marxism in terms of economic issues, history and historical developments. I talked to Mr. Hashemi about their viewpoints and I realized that Mr. Hashemi was of the same idea about them but he was trying to find a way directed at removing their mistakes and helping them to get back on the right path. At that time all of us – Mr. Taleghani, Hashemi rafsenjani, Mehdi Karrubi, Musavi Khoeiniha, Shahid Shahabadi, late Maleki, Shahid Beheshti, Shadid Doctor Mofateh and …- were supporting them because this organization had not declared its ideological outlooks and stances yet. Within that period of time this organization was believed to be religious and opposing Shah's regime. Therefore, we all quite naturally favored them. For a long time some figures and friends of ours did not know about their perspectives on various matters such as religion and politics. Any way, most of Ulama found their viewpoints originating from Marxism and incorrect. So they all tried to overcome such defects in them. Of course, Late Taleghani and Hashemi believed that under those conditions it was wrong to get into ideological conflict with them and deprive them of the support provided by religious masses and forces. They thought that in private sessions they could be talked to and directed. If we were to get seriously into religious arguments and debate then the combat against Shah's regime would have deviated and weakened and all the combatants would suffer heavy losses.
Thus, embarking on such conflicts was not to the benefit of the revolution and such tendencies were contained.

Hubs of battle
One of the centers around which the combatants would gather and exchange their viewpoints and stances was Mr. Hashemi Rafsenjani's house. Over there very good and coordinated sessions would be held. He is very hospitable and he used to receive the combating forces that would arrive in Tehran and they could benefit from his accommodating them in the best manner possible. Mr. Hashemi was so kind and receptive that all of us felt at home inside his house. We were all of the impression that he was interested in our visiting his there and listening to our comments. He used to attend various assemblies and sessions which were held at the houses of some other friends and comrades, too. Of course, he used to attend the sessions held by Ulama and he was regarded as one the outstanding figures of Islamic revolution even before the victory of Islamic revolution.
Propaganda trips outside Tehran
One night a meeting was held at my house in which Mr. Hashemi, Karrubi, Imam Jamarani and Late Shahabadi were present. We discussed various issues and one of major debates was over the propaganda during the month of Moharam. Just few days before that month we discussed the matter. I told them that I could not deliver speeches under the fake name of Akhalaghi any longer sine SAVAK was chasing me after my lectures at Hemmat and Saheb-olamr mosques in Tehran. Therefore, I took 3 propaganda trips to Yazd, Bandar Abbas and Toyserkan and those in Yazd and Toyserkan were both arranged by Mr. Hashemi Rafsenjani.

Division 1 in Evin Prison
When I was transferred to Ghasr prison in 1977, at first they put me in division 2 and after a while they took me to division 2 in which I joined Mr. Hashemi Rafsenjani. He used to adhere to certain daily programs. He would say nightly prayers and every morning after dawn prayers he would routinely recite Quran. I used to hold classes for young Tollab and they learned Tafsir and Feqh principles at my teaching sessions and since Mr. Hashemi was a mater of Osul the young Tollab kept benefiting from his teachings and they could get the answers to their questions in this regard from him.

Exercises in Prison
One of the important tasks in prison was to keep the morale and sense of buoyancy boosted and high. Those sad about being in prison felt depressed and decide to cooperate with SAVAK. They would separate from others automatically. But in our division we were all high-spirited and happy. If some one was found bored and gloomy others would try to help him get rid of that sense of depression.
Prisoners had some funs over there and we could entertain ourselves and one of such enlivening means was exercising. Football, volleyball and ping pong could be played in prison and we often got busy with them. Mr. Hashemi and I played ping pong together. I remember that once Mr. Hashemi wrestled with Mr. Tajrishi and won the match.
